I can't say enough good things about this show. Seriously.
Let's start off with a few of the pitfalls of the evening though. First off...we got there and 2 bands had dropped off the bill. One a few days ago due to personal family tragedy (we honestly hope things are alright for them). And the other due to...a seeming miscomunication. Whatever, shit happens.
Then. THEN THEN THEN. As we're sound checking. My amp goes KAFUCK. I play chords and i get a flabby crackly shit sound. Basically...I'm pretty sure my tubes are done for (thats going to be about $100). So as Flowers for Dorian are basically still loading in all their shit, I have to humbly ask if we may procure one of their amps for our show. They -- exceedingly genrously -- oblige and let us borrow an amp set up. For this, we are seriously indebted forever.
And then. After the show. We got pulled over by the cops for some kinda u-turn bullshit. Thankfully, even though we'd all had some alcohol (not nearly enough to be a problem, DUI-wise) we got out with Dan getting a $70 ticket. Which sucks, but we're alive and not broke or in jail haha.
With 2 bands falling off the set both us and Flowers for Dorian got UP TO an hour for our sets! Which was insane. We went from never really knowing what to put in our set...to trying to figure out all the songs we can fill it with. Flowers for Dorian put on a HELL OF A FUCKING SHOW. The kids can rock it (and work an audience I might add).
We had some close family to the band come out as well as some really good friends of ours. And its a bit of a drive for most of them...so we are eternally greatful to all of you (honestly...there were so many I don't think I can name everyone without forgetting). There was also a group of girls in the audience that just fuckin rocked like no ones business, hell yes.
On top of this, the staff at The House cafe was just bad ass. Friendly. Helpful. Knowlegable (unlike apparently my use of the english language). The set up was pretty cool too. And let me tell you; if youre ever playing there, or there to see a show, get the Veggie-Veg sandwich. God it was good. Its completely vegetables...so i mean...if you dont like vegetables, its not that great, but you're a jerk anyway! HA.
Seriously. Thanks to everyone who came out. All of Dan's family and all of our friends who came out to see us and hang out. Thanks to the staff of The House and to John for booking us so early on! You gave us our first real gig. Thanks to the OTHER Dan for hanging out and your great advice. And a super special shout out to Lola and Zoë for trekking all over and to see both of our shows so far. Truely truely good friends! Honestly.

Couple days ago (010308) we played Reggie's Rock Club. Chicago Illinois. Rock.
It was our first show ever. And all went surprisingly well. The whole staff at Reggie's was wonderful. Nice and a half. We met a lot of cool people. The guys in Hinter and in Philpot were all really cool.
On top of a couple free drinks (Blue Moon on tap!!!!) they also have hot dogs and some other food at the bar.
We played a pretty decent set. On the song #1 (Sleep Less) Josh broke a string almost immediately. Of course. One that was required for the rest of the song. A little improvision there (and on Saturday Night) got us through the set. A little quick. So we played an..."encore" (it was more an encore for us...cuz no one else knew what was gonna be played anyway) of Nose Bleed. A lot of people really liked the screaming into the guitar stuff. Haha.
Thanks a lot to anyone who saw us! (I know that list is pretty small for now!)
First Vox post.
Expect more.
Most things -- like band updates -- will be posted here as well as myspace. Except things like tour/show/recording journals. Which will mostly be posted here.
This is also a good, ORGANIZED way for us to try and keep track of all our recorded out-put. All media, including videos, will be going up here in the next few days (it takes a while to upload mp3s -- let alone videos)!
